Apple App Store rejects Uniswap 🚫❌
Uniswap's mobile wallet launch in jeopardy as Apple App Store raises concerns
Uniswap Builds Better Mobile App Wallet
Uniswap Labs, a prominent decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, is working on launching a new mobile wallet that will allow users to swap tokens across various blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism. The self-custodial wallet has been audited by Trail of Bits to ensure maximum security, and it will store seed phrases and private keys on devices using Apple's Secure Enclave, which is excluded from device backups.
Apple Denies New Build
However, Uniswap Labs is facing issues with Apple's App Store regarding the launch of its mobile wallet. Despite having its first build approved by Apple in October, the final build of the mobile wallet was rejected by Apple just a few days before its planned December 2022 launch. Uniswap Labs has responded to Apple's concerns and complied with its guidelines but is still waiting for approval.
Uniswap Launches Early Access Via Testflight
In the meantime, Uniswap Labs is offering early access to a few thousand Testflight users while it waits for Apple to greenlight the launch. The mobile wallet will provide users with the ability to swap on layer-1 or layer-2 networks without having to switch blockchain, check price charts, and search for any token across various networks. Seed phrases can be manually stored with a paper copy or encrypted and stored on iCloud for added security.
Other Major Crypto Wallets On Apple
It’s unclear why Apple has shunned Uniswap thus far as there are many crypto apps and wallets already available in the App Store like 1Inch, Metamask, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Bitpay, Ledger Live and many more that allow users to not only buy and sell crypto but to swap as well. Uniswap continues to dominate the “ultrasound money charts” on ETH burns despite the app not being available on the App Store.
