Bitcoin ETF Inflows Plummet w/ Dr. Jeff Ross
The Bitcoin markets are gearing up for what could be the next major bull cycle, according to Jeff Ross of Vailshire Capital Management. In a recent interview, Ross analyzed the current market conditions, highlighting the similarities between today's price action and the 2016 pre-halving rally. He anticipates a "buy the rumor, sell the news" event around the upcoming halving in April 2024, potentially leading to a short-term pullback before the real fireworks begin.
Ross is particularly bullish on the long-term prospects of Bitcoin, setting an ambitious target of $475,000 per BTC by the end of 2025. This forecast is based on his analysis of past cycles, where the bull market peak typically occurs around 18-24 months after the halving event. Additionally, Ross cites the growing institutional adoption, driven by the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs, as a key tailwind that could propel prices to new highs.
One area of concern raised by some analysts is the potential for a supply shock, where the demand for Bitcoin outstrips the available supply. However, Ross dismisses this notion, arguing that on-chain data from previous cycles suggests that long-term holders (often referred to as "OG bitcoiners") tend to increase their selling as prices rise, effectively increasing the circulating supply to meet demand.
The interview also touched on the ongoing debate between Bitcoin and gold as a store of value. Ross firmly believes that Bitcoin is actively "demonetizing" gold, as the digital asset increasingly gains recognition as a superior form of money in the digital age. He predicts that as the baby boomer generation ages, the monetary premium associated with gold will diminish, further cementing Bitcoin's status as the preeminent hard asset.
While Ross acknowledges the potential for short-term volatility and consolidation, his overall outlook remains decidedly bullish. As the world continues its transition to the digital age, he sees Bitcoin as a key beneficiary, poised to capture a significant portion of the wealth transfer from the baby boomer generation to younger, tech-savvy cohorts. With institutional adoption on the rise and the next halving event on the horizon, the stage seems set for Bitcoin's next major ascent.
